Frequently Asked Questions

________________

What makes the hourly, project and/or retainer fee different?

Hourly
This can be used for temporary or ongoing tasks. Typically, the hourly cost ranges from $35 to $50. Large projects will receive invoices every two weeks, while minor projects will only receive them once a month. Payment is expected within 15 days.

Project
This is also accessible for temporary or ongoing employment. The amount charged depends on how much work is involved and how long the project lasts. Typically, half of the cost is due when the contract is signed, and the remaining balance is due 15 days after the job is finished.

Retainer
Although there is no minimum duration needed, ongoing work is best suited for this. The number of hours per month is predetermined, and the payment is made on a monthly basis. The main advantages of such a setup are flexibility and financial savings.

What is your award success rate for grants?

With a success percentage of 100% since 2022, we have helped secure over $60,000 in funding.

Why should your organizations outsource grant research and grant writing?

  • Industry expertise. A qualified grant writing consultant will be aware of local giving trends.
  • Objectivity. The strengths and weaknesses of your agency's programs will be more objectively assessed by an outside expert. Without worrying about facing repercussions at work, they will be able to freely share with your agency's leadership how they might become more competitive.
  • Possibilities for networking. Grant consultants can assist your organization in identifying prospective alliances and partnerships because they frequently have a close working relationship with multiple non-profits.
  • A novel strategy. As opposed to consistently writing on the same subject, consultants write for a variety of various types of organizations. Because of the variety, we can tackle each new initiative with new energy and enthusiasm.
  • Lower costs. In almost every real-world scenario, hiring a grant writer on a case-by-case basis is less expensive than paying them a salary and perks on a regular basis. When you outsource, you only pay a grant writer when they are actively engaged in their work.
Each project is unique and therefore is priced accordingly. Rest assured our rates are very competitive and often less than other firms. After an initial consultation we'll be able to provide you with an accurate quote for our services.

How much time do you need to write a federal grant?
The response to this query often falls between a four-week to three-month range and is greatly influenced by the amount of information that the grant writer has at their disposal before starting the grant writing process. We gauge how long it takes based on the number of pages of narrative and the time it takes to gather the additional data required for the forms, budgets, and other attachments.

Can you guarantee success in procuring us grant funds?

No, a well-written proposal is simply one component of a successful grant application; other, out of my control elements include an agency's capacity, financial stability, program expertise, and employee qualifications. I do, however, provide this promise to organizations contracting for 8–10 bids on the same program: if none of the ideas are funded, I will submit 4-5 more proposals on the same program at no additional cost.

Do you write grants on contingency or commission?

No. Accepting pay as a percentage of funds raised or contingency fees is against the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Principles and Standards.

Do you have professional liability insurance?

Yes. A copy of my Certificate of Liability Insurance is available upon request.

How does the billing process work?

I provide a signed IRS W-9 form to your accounting department so an IRS 1099-MISC form can be issued to me at year’s end. Invoices are sent monthly for hourly, project and retainer work. Invoices are due within 15 days.

How do we get started working with you?

The first thing we do is draft a consulting agreement that outlines the assignment(s) and the maximum price that can be charged. We shall be prepared to start working as soon as both sides have signed the agreement.
